Phoenix Park is a large park located in Dublin 8. It has an area of 707 hectares and an 11 km perimeter. The park consists of large grassland areas. A glen known as the Furry Glen, has a mix of parkland and woodland, as well as a large pond. The government has lobbied the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to designate the park as a World Heritage Site.
Birds include tufted ducks, mandarin ducks, great tits, black-headed gulls, muscovy ducks, mallards, wood ducks, coots, moorhens, magpies, blackbirds, and blue tits.
